If you are wondering why this blog is called "~" (tilde), the reason is because ~ denotes the home directory on unix systems. The name has caused a fair amount of confusion, and I'm thinking of changing it.
Well, its a weird symbol. Most people don't even realise that it's there on the keyboard or what it is :-D I think programmers are the only people who actually use it regularly. Someone once asked me "there is some wavy thing on the top", not realising that its the title of the page.
